Having just bought an RX-7 Pedrosa replica I needed a tinted shield to go with it for day time riding. I know a lot of people seem to fear the way Arai's shield system works, fearing they will break something off the helmet or shield, but I've changed out shields enough times now to know that it's not something to worry about. I've used helmets with shield systems that HAVE resulted in a broken shield, and honestly I'm not too worried about breaking this shield. While it's not something I intend to try, I have seen Arai marketing videos that show a guy bending an Arai shield in the opposite direction it normally is and it didn't break.
The iridium coating seems like it will hold up fairly well over time. My first time using the shield I went out for a good 3 hours with no problems. Took it up to 120mph, got a few bug hits. When I took the helmet off the bugs dry wiped right off (easier and cleaner than dry wiping my clear shield) and everything still looked nice.
It's a shield... what do you expect it to do?
