(More customer reviews)My husband bought this jacket almost a year ago.Within 4-5 wearings, the back dart stitching came apart.He tried to return it to the motorcycle shop where he purchased it, but they wouldn't take the return and now we have to send it back to Joe Rocket for a repair or replacement, on our dime.Not happy.
Also, after researching a bit more on a jacket for me, I did some checking on the label of the Joe Rocket Hemp jacket, and it states that the outer material is "100% Nylon"!So I have an email into Joe Rocket Customer Service to find out if there REALLY is any hemp in this product.Is it possible that the US import regulations has something to do with this?I hope to find out.
The interior fabric is 100% polyester, and along with the possible 100% nylon outer fabric, this jacket is going to be replaced immediately because Nylon and Polyester has been known to melt on slides even at 25mph.Not good.
In the meantime, I have researched the different abrasion cycles of various motorcycle jacket materials, and found out that Joe Rocket listed the abrasion cycle of their coated jacket as 253, which is less than 200 Denier Standard Nylon (275), and no where CLOSE to the abrasion cycle of a nice racing leather which is listed between 1200-1700 cycles, with Cordura Nylon between 710-1780 (depending on Denier).
The jacket does contain CE approved elbow and shoulder armor, but the back armor is not CE approved.Based upon the questionable marketing of Joe Rocket for this "hemp" jacket, the poor seam stitching, and the cost/time to return the jacket under the subpar warranty, I cannot recommend this jacket, and gave it the lowest rating I could.
