For years we've been looking for a cool pinup themed helmet to add to our motorsports wardrobe, but nothing has gotten us off until now.... Sparx Helmets, those cool dudes with the sexy nude pinup model ad campaigns have just released this new Platinum edition helmet with an awesome silver chrome finish that showcases the sexiest pinup theme ever. The left side is titled "City of Angles" and shows a sexy Jessica Rabbit style cartoon red head posing for Hollywood cameras and blowing us XXXs!
Flip the helmet over to the left side and were suddenly it's "Sin City" on the Las Vegas Strip with a beautiful blond dealing the cards and rolling the dice. Either way its "Heads" and we're a winner!
Design wise, The Sparx helmets are manufactured in China and use a polycarbonate shell. Feature wise, is fully vented and has and easily operated flip up face shield, ours coming with a dark tinted mirrored shield that was really great for riding in bright sunlight. The chin strap and interior padding was as comfortable and fitted as nicely as our $[...] Arai and Suomy race helmets.
The Sparx helmet has no safety rating, which may or may not be a factor. If you read a few years ago Motorcyclist magazine's extensive helmet review you know it came to the conclusion that polycarbonate helmets which flexed and absorbed an impact, were far safer than the hard fabric and epoxy resin helmets like the Arai, Shoei and Suomy which transmit the impact directly to your head.My only minor negative comments on the Sparx Platinum is the front face guard piece is a little too close to my mouth/chin for heavy open mouth breathing, and there is no venting directly in front of the mouth. So I wouldn't use it as a race helmet (and it wouldn't pass Tech Inspection without a safety rating), but as street helmet for making the Bike night scene where you want to be noticed, this Spark Platinum is you front seat ticket.
Making the Spark Platinum even more appealing is the cost. Normally listing at around $[...] and well worth the price considering its beautiful graphics, design and fit,you'll find it here to Amazon.com for even less!
