(More customer reviews)I used these with my 98 Honda Shadow ACE Tourer (VT1100T). The holes at the top of the bars, where they connect to the steering head, are slightly off. I had to connect one of the bolts, then drill out through the other one to get the 2nd bolt on each side to fit. Getting the lock washer and nut onto the bolt was hard on the right side, and riDICUlously hard on the left. The engine and radiator block any reasonable access to the back side of the mounting holes, plus the triangular area around those holes has a lip on the inside, so it's a recessed area making it that much more difficult. I was afraid to remove the radiator because it looked like getting the hose back on was going to be just as difficult - no reasonable access to hold the hose.
When attaching the 2nd side (which in my case was the left) pressure has to be put on the bar to get it in far enough for the bolts to reach through, while still finagling the washer & nut into place. It required a second person - one to push on the bar and one to finagle. (For this reason, I recommend connecting the left side first since the right side is a little easier to access.
Getting the bolts tight is another chore since there's no room to get a wrench on the back side of the hole. I had to use a long screwdriver from the opposite side wedged between the top of the nut and the frame to hold the nut in place while tightening the bolt. Another difficult chore.
Finally, when attaching the bottom, right bolt - which required the supplied spacer between the bar and the frame - I had to pull forward on the bars with a fair amount of force to get the holes to line up. That plus trying to get the spacer to also line up, which is pinched pretty tight and doesn't want to move, made even this a difficult process.
When it was all said and done, they are securely fastened (I believe!?!?) and look great. I just hope and pray they never have to be removed!
