(More customer reviews)I've been a regular motorcycle rider since 1962 when I was a college student without a car, and developed a love of riding. I bought this set years ago on VHS and used them to improve my riding skills, then passed them on to friends and relatives for their use. They were useful enough that I'm ordering the set today on DVD to use for a refresher course. There is much here to help riders become more aware of their environment and to make better choices as they ride. Basic and intermediate riding skills are well taught. But, the time spent on lane splitting, which is illegal in most states, is a bit of a waste. And, the second DVD focusses on the track which is fun to watch and does contain some good info, but I would rather have all three DVDs focus on riding on the street, with more time spent looking at riding on dirt, gravel and other problematic roads/driveways - try riding a loaded Goldwing down a looong rural dirt/gravel driveway and you'll understand why. I rode bikes and scooters from 49cc to 900cc for decades before getting my Wing, but many middle-aged and older folk are making a big heavy motorcycle their first bike, so time would be well spent on this. Also, would have liked to see more time spent on low speed handling on large, heavy bikes. In fact, I ordered some ofJerry "Motorman" Paladino's DVDs in hopes that they will help me improve that aspect of my riding - hope they arrive today.
There are many books but few DVDs aimed at teaching riding skills. These are well worth buying as a set or individually. Note, the Motorcycle Safety Foundation offers multi-level classes that give you hands-on riding and text based instruction that is outstanding. I took the beginning class after roughly thirty years of riding and learned there was a lot I didn't know.
You can never be too safe on a motorcycle. Learn and live.
