(More customer reviews)I was pressed for time and after hurriedly searching and comparing and then finding my preferred helmet 'out of stock' I just went for cheap and ordered this one @ $34.95 + $13.70 shipping. A later helmet buy shipped for $6.99 so Power Gear MotorSports might be inflating shipping charges.

Box label calls it a JX-A111 Helmet, [...] calls it a HJDC-Fiber Helmet. Couldn't find replacement face shields.

One positive; it is pretty with the graphite fiber look done very well.

Many negatives: Fit was ok for my size large but only the crown of my head was held by the padding, my temples and back of my head were untouched, which felt odd and made it noisy and drafty, my jaw hinge did contact some padding though, which probably kept the helmet from wobbling around.

Wind noise got really bad above 40 mph. I've read that this is a problem for the modular type helmets but add in the draftiness and it's really not worth being able to spit and blow my nose.

The 'Double D-Ring' strap fastener was made with identical flat-stamped d-rings which are hard to separate to get the strap between them. I'll have to bend or grind one so they don't fit together so tightly.

The face plate has a thumb tab to the left of center and besides being annoying for my right-handed preference, it twists the face plate when I close it so the right side won't click that last notch until I push down from the top middle.

Getting the face shield off for cleaning took pressure I thought dangerously close to breaking the plastic. I worked at it a long time holding the release button up and seeing the latches disengaged but not being able to get the plate to pop loose until I gave it some vigorous top to bottom wiggling and finally got it to come apart. After a couple of cleanings it did get easier though.

To get the front face to close I have to use two hands; one on the back of the helmet and one on the front pushing it shut. Though I've slammed it shut one-handed and got it to latch I subsequently pushed it shut two-handed and heard another 'click' indicating it wasn't completely latched. Later the latch loosened up and it would latch completely with a hard, fast (and loud) slap-shut.

I'll get some free time later to hunt down a quality, low-priced helmet and just use this one for summer riding and especially when I'm the designated beer drinker in my buddy's side-by-side atv.
